Also beginning today, Dell will offer two graphics adapters from Diamond Multimedia Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:DIMD) as entry-level and mid-range options for Dell Precision WorkStations.
The Diamond Viper(R) V770D is the new entry-level graphics option for all Dell Precision WorkStation models. This graphics card is designed to be a strong 2D performer and is equipped with DirectX and basic OpenGL support, making it ideal for game development, desktop publishing and general engineering applications. Prices for a Dell Precision WorkStation with the Diamond Viper 770D and single 400MHz Pentium II processor start at $1,394(2).
The Diamond Fire GL1, designed specifically for the 3D OpenGL workstation market, is the new mid-range graphics option for the Dell Precision WorkStation 410 and 610. This graphics card offers specialized settings for workstation-specific software applications, robust 2D performance, AGP 2X support, multi-threaded OpenGL drivers and true color screen resolutions up to 1920x1200 (double buffered). Prices for a Dell Precision WorkStation with the Diamond Fire GL1 graphics card and single 400MHz Pentium II processor start at $2, 322(3).
