NT's strategy with this switch was to approach the software revision (and on the fly) cycle times that were achievable with smaller programmables, such as the XLSW and the Summa Four platform, the latter being acquired by CSCO last year. In so doing, the switch is capable of assuming multiple personalities, even simultaneously, to suit the SP's requirements.
