"The Fed did not do a thing"... then again... who knows).biz.yahoo.com Monday May 17, 11:52 am Eastern Time Charles Schwab Europe offers U.S. share dealing LONDON, May 17 (Reuters) - Discount brokerage Charles Schwab Corp (NYSE:SCH - news) said on Monday it would expand its service to private investors in Britain, allowing them to trade on the main U.S. stock markets through Schwab's automated trading service. In a statement, Schwab said the service would be available by Internet and phone, with commissions starting at $29.95 and $39.00 respectively. It said it was the first online execution-only brokerage in Britain to offer a dollar dealing service. ''This is a very significant and exciting move for both Charles Schwab Europe and its customers,'' said Bob Duste, chief executive of Charles Schwab Europe. ''By giving our customers the opportunity to invest in the world's largest financial market, we have moved a step nearer to providing a comprehensive state of the art investment service.'' Schwab said its European arm had traded more than 300 million pounds worth of shares since launching its Internet service a year ago.
