Hmmmmm.... Go figure. A new network without an ATM core. In fact even worse...an existing ATM network migrating to packet over SONET. Could this be what Cisco was thinking when it killed the TGX??? I know this is a small network supporting a measly 130,000 users but I wonder if this is a vision onto the future???? To offer Internet access at such unprecedented speeds for its 130,000 subscribers in 1999, Thrunet decided to migrate its existing ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) network to an optical framework based on IP over SONET. biz.yahoo.com OG
