<people do not immediately adjust their behavior to take advantage of their new liberties. Patterns of behavior that existed before the rules were relaxed are frequently observed for some time (decades?).>

What do we do when the liberty comes from changing reality? Specifically sex. About the time of the settling of the US, the villages of England were breaking apart. Industrialization and the factory.

Coupling had been the absolute norm across the globe, across the millenia, at sexual awakening, ~13 years old. Now a delay till 30 is normal. Every standard of morality from across the ages assumes 13 as the marriage, and sex is fully subsumed within marriage.

Now sex is divorced from marriage, by our work, not our morals. <we are living off the moral capital of previous generations.> Unfortunately, we are living off of, not investing in a morality to fit the new circumstances.

You do pick interesting distillations.
