Extranet
Livelink increases industry-leading engineering organization's competitiveness by linking its employees enterprise-wide
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 1999-- Open Text(TM) Corporation (NASDAQ:OTEX - news; TSE:OTC - news), the worldwide leader of Web-based collaborative knowledge management application software, announced today that Parsons Corporation, one of the world's largest, full-service engineering, procurement and construction organizations, has chosen Livelink® to manage its enterprise-wide intranet and global extranet.
Livelink will enable Parsons' employees in offices around the world to share knowledge for the development of proposals, establishing standards or reviewing drawings online. Hayes Latin, Information Systems Senior Project Manager with Perot Systems Corporation (NYSE:PER - news), Parsons' information technology services firm, said: ''With Livelink, Parsons has one Web- basedrepository that allows employees to collaborate, reducing the time it takes to create proposals by replicating best practices online. The implementation of Livelink will also manage a global extranet, which will permit thousands of Parsons' partners worldwide to collaborate on joint-venture projects. As construction projects are
established, engineers can communicate and share documents with co-workers and partners from the work site via the extranet.
''By implementing the Web-based technology of Livelink, Parsons is accelerating its innovation process,'' said John Shackleton, President, Open Text Corporation. Open Text Wins Microsoft Industry Solution Award for Best Content and
Document Management Solution
WATERLOO, ON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 3, 1999--Open Text(TM) Corporation(NASDAQ:OTEX, TSE:OTC), the worldwide leader in Web-based collaborative knowledge management and corporate portal software, today announced that its flagship product, Livelink®, has won the 1999 Microsoft Industry Solution Award for Best Content and Document Management Solution.
The Microsoft Industry Solution Awards recognize vendors in the knowledge management market who best utilize Microsoft Back Office® to provide tangible benefits to businesses. The award distinguishes Livelink for providing an industry-leading solution that supports the management of multi-format documents with a rich set of services. The winner was determined after a detailed review of the Livelink implementation for CARE Canada's i2K - Information to Knowledge -
division, the organization's information technology arm.
''Open Text is proud to be recognized as the leader in content and document management by Microsoft,'' said Dan Latendre, Vice President, Product Marketing, Open Text Corporation. ''Organizations like CARE Canada's i2K require a knowledge management solution that is easy to
deploy and use, yet powerful enough to facilitate a global extranet. Livelink's Web-based full functionality met all of CARE's requirements and enables users to shorten the time required to collaborate, allowing them to make better decisions and work faster.''
''At the heart of every CARE effort, we have found that knowledge sharing is of critical importance,'' said Gerard van der Burg, Managing Director of CARE Canada's i2K Group. ''We strive to constantly find new and innovative solutions to the problems encountered in relief efforts. Livelink enables CARE to share best practices and experience, making our responses to world crises, such as coordinating relief efforts in Kosovo, smarter and faster.''
CARE Canada's implementation of Livelink is two-tiered. First, CARE uses Livelink as an intranet solution, managing program implementation and best practices for employees. Secondly, with assistance from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA/ACDI), i2K uses Livelink to facilitate a global extranet, enabling not only CARE employees, but also other non-governmental development organizations, donors and contributors from all over the world, in even the most remote locations, to have access to best practices.
