Concerning ALTAVISTA:

I think every day that CPQ waits to spin it off they are losing money. There are other, BETTER, search engines coming on line (i.e. FAST) that can do better than AV. Also, AV is no longer in the top ten sites on the web.

At this point I think CPQ can only do damage control to get some decent value out of a spin off.
