True, but don't you think the bad news is also in the stock now as well?
1. Over valuation argument - Probably been in the stock for a long time.
2. SSB "downgrade" - Hard to believe anyone can have a system wherein one can downgrade a stock to an "outperform" rating. Why bother? Anyway SSB does and did today with AMAT. AMAT hit at the open and now on the rise so I think that is already in the price..{I wonder how many shares SSB clients picked up in the morning dip today?}
3. Fed. bias change to increase rate - This news out Friday and street expectation is that they will change the bias. So, this should be built in to the price.
Now, if Fed. doesn't change bias and AMAT crushes earnings expectations where does that leave us? Hmm, looks like Tito's AMAT construction workers might be working overtime if that happens.

Indicators have gone way,way overbought in AMAT ,,,(trader Indictors),,and I believe even positive news tomorrow would have been already figured in the price.. Should prove to be a interesting couple of days ./...

Sun Tzu

Do you still believe that the current price has valued todays earnings? Based on the earnings and stated projections, it looks like the FY99 earnings could be >$1.40. What is a typical multiple that you would use halfway through a year on a cyclical, growth stock?
