Richard,

A quick look at my L2 shows Wedbush sitting on the ask at $26. I haven't been trading THQI recently and so, I don't know how long they've been there. But the fact that you stated it and it was so must hold some truth to your comment.

Dave

And from Michael, giving us a fresh perspective--

Well, I have finally made it back from LA and thought I better write my review. I was going through the messages and started to come across info from the meeting and decided it was time to post instead of potentially alter my writing based on others info.

First impression. Was impressed with the THQ booth. It was well placed across from Sony and Nintendo so we got lots of cross traffic. I liked the setup. Fairly basic but you know THQ didn't drop a million on babes and tshirts. After walking around a bit I thought THQ should have popped for bigger and better monitors (particularly for Sinistar!). All the titles I expected were demo'ed (all except WWF - thought I might be able to get a sneak look
but NO!)

Games. RugRats - Scavenger Hunt - I have no real comment for this one. I didn't care enough to play it long enough to like it. I found it boring but I am not the intended audience. I think It looked good graphics-wise; similar to first RR. RugRats was present again this year at the sony booth, so we got some coverage there. I really don't have a comment beyond this.

ShaoLin - The claim to fame for this one is 4 player. Can you say 4 guys get together and beat the hell out of each other! I had fun in this mode. I didn't get a chance to really explore the adventure part of this game. It basically appeared like many other fighting games (except for the 4 player part). I would buy it for this feature. It will help differentiate us i think, i hope.

Road Rash - almost the same comment for this game as ShaoLin. I was not too impressed with the graphics but warring with others is fun to watch and play. In THQ's defence, I expect the graphics to improve in many of these games as they get more "complete".

Nuclear Strike - Fly around in a helicopter and shoot stuff. I think of all the games this one was my least favorite. I lost interest in this one almost immediately.

Bass Masters - I am not a fisherman. In fact, my idea of fishing is to take no bait so I don't have to mess with catching anything. The only thing I want to catch is some rays. This is the first time I have played a game like this. I actually found it kind of fun. The concept is pretty simple and I learned how to catch fish fairly quickly. Under water view was prettyl good. The graphics of the fish, once caught, weren't that great but I
talked to the project leader for this game at the THQ party and I think they will be working on this aspect. Probably a good mass consumer product.

Ricky's Motocross - I thought this was a typical racing game. Walt loved it I think. I also think i can appreciate it more that me with its appeal to his own dare-devil acts of investing! Average for me.

Felony Pursuit - this game was no where near release yet. No playable demo at the show. Graphics looked good (as I expect with PC games) and the idea is to go to school to learn how to steal cars and the evade the cops OR be the cops and chase these SOBs down and bust them. Realistic trafic paters is the difference I expect in this game. Could be interesting. Probably get a chance to see it next year at E3 <G>.

Ultimate 8 Ball - Lots of different set-ups (square, triangle, octagonal tables, etc). Great graphics and eye candy. Physics seemed pretty good. I liked this one probably second best behind you guessed it . . .

Sinistar Unleased - I probably irritated Mark Tsai (developer) a bit. I think I put in about 2 hours at least with this game. Overall my favorite (i guess i am a PC gamer after all). Great playability, not too difficult to play (hard to win), graphics were awesome, contains same phrases as original (a must). I complained that THQ should have had the biggest, clearest monitor they could get for this game at the show. Looked like lots of
interest, i hope it translates to $. THQ looked all business at the show. Lots of little meetings all the time with ?prospective clients?.

THQ party was a blast. Met up with Walt, Trippi, and Rick and chatted for a long time about THQ and Trippi's most interesting job(s). Met with Farrel and Gysi. I think I am sold on the options idea and both of these guys are real pros in my opinion. Food was good, drinks were free and place was pretty cool. Cigar dude was there to set you up if you were into that kind of thing. Vic didn't make it I think but he was probably at the Sony party
<G>. I had a great time and it was a pleasure to meet some of management and fellow THQ'ites.
