One evening a family brings their frail, elderly
mother to a nursing
home and leaves her, hoping she will be well cared for.
The next morning, the nurses bathe her, feed her a
tasty breakfast,
and set her in a chair at a window overlooking a
lovely flower garden.
She seems OK, but after a while she
slowly starts to lean over
sideways in her chair. Two attentive nurses
immediately rush up to
catch her and straighten her up. Again she seems
OK, but after a
while she starts to tilt to the other side. The
nurses rush back and
once more bring her back upright. This goes on
all morning.
Later, the family arrives to see how the old woman
is adjusting to her
new home. "So, Ma, how is it here? Are they
treating you all right?
They ask. "It's pretty nice," she replies. "Except they won't
let you fart." JAJAJAJAJAJJJAJAJAJA

Company Press Release

Compaq To Consolidate North American
High-End Systems Manufacturing

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 1999--Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ - news)
announced today that it is consolidating its North American manufacturing operations for high-end,
enterprise-class Alpha processor-based systems. Compaq is transferring production of such systems
currently taking place at the company's Salem, New Hampshire site to its existing state-of-the-art
manufacturing facilities in Fremont, California and Houston, Texas.

''To secure a competitive advantage for Compaq, we must simplify our supply chains and manufacturing
operations wherever possible,'' said Ed Straw, Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Management. ''The
action announced today will reduce the number of high-end server manufacturing sites in North
American by a third and help us streamline order fulfillment for our enterprise customers.''

High-end Alpha systems production will move to the Fremont and Houston manufacturing facilities
during a six to nine month transition period that will begin immediately. Approximately 900 employees
at the Salem manufacturing site will be affected by these actions. Some affected employees in Salem
will be offered the opportunity to relocate to either Fremont or Houston as part of the transition. An
as-yet-undetermined number of positions will be added in Fremont and Houston over time to
accommodate the additional Alpha system production in those facilities.

''Compaq is committed to building the best supply chain in the industry to reduce costs, improve
efficiencies, and enhance overall customer satisfaction,'' Straw added. ''We will do our best to ease the
transition for our Salem employees through benefits packages, outplacement services, and other forms
of assistance.''

Vic,

No, actually I think we will go higher and I agree with 55 by end of 99. The On Balance Volume, IMHO, is very bullish for CPQ going forward.
