ps - Mike, this should keep you busy for a while, I should think ;-)

Frank & Bernard,
Thanks very much for the info. I've skimmed over it all. Now I have to dig a little deeper to absorb it and ask some intelligent questions about the "other side" of the CO (not to mention, this side of the CO).

Ironically, when I surfed on over to George Hawley's site (which is now Nokia), I came away with a funny conclusion. I read some of the excellent little Nokia White papers (http://www.dlcc.com/wpaper.htm), about the pros and cons of cable vs. copper broadband deployments. But I came away wanting to invest even more in the HFC equipment suppliers.

They describe, in a negative light, how much work it will take to build the two-way HFC networks. But the papers were written BEFORE the AT&T deals with the cable companies. And BEFORE AT&T's recent, world record, bond offering for $8 billion! My how things change.

So in other words, it's almost guaranteed that AT&T will be spending billions upon billions in upgrading cable to two-way HFC around the nation.

But I'll be back with more DSL and Telco questions. That's probably going to be the next great area of investment.
Thanks,
MikeM(From Florida)
