• Cahners In-Stat Group reported that worldwide sales of wireless handsets will grow from 207 million units in 1999 to 392
units in 2003. The research firm also said that handset growth will primarily be digital cellular and PCS and that by 2003 more
than 95 percent of the handset market will be using digital technology. In-Stat reported that CDMA will have the fastest growth
rate at 24.69 percent followed by TDMA at 22.46 percent and GSM at 22.66 percent.
