Tekelec Announces ATM7 Inspector
High-Performance Solution Tests and Monitors
High-Speed Links

MORRISVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 1999--Tekelec (Nasdaq: TKLC - news) introduced today ATM7
Inspector, a high-performance protocol analysis and diagnostic system. ATM7 Inspector tests and monitors high-speed voice
and data networks.

Danny Parker, vice president and general manager of Tekelec's Intelligent Network Diagnostics division, commented, ''With
the ability to simultaneously test, monitor, and simulate signaling traffic, ATM7 Inspector assists our customers in the
cost-effective initial implementation and ongoing maintenance of mission-critical SS7 (Signaling System 7) over ATM
(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) high-speed links.''

ATM7 Inspector includes monitoring and intrusive testing capabilities. It supports remote user access, enables multiple users to
access a single portable test unit, and collects important ATM and SS7 statistics. ATM7 Inspector features call-tracing
capabilities on both real-time and historical data.

With Tekelec's Protocol Adaptable State Machine (PASM) included, ATM7 Inspector has the same level of SS7 protocol
testing flexibility featured in Tekelec's industry-leading MGTS product line. In addition, it simulates Line Information Data Base
(LIDB), toll-free calling, Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN), IS-41, Intelligent Network Application Part (INAP), and
Local Number Portability (LNP) procedures for Signal Transfer Point (STP) and Service Control Point (SCP) testing.

Tekelec, the world's leading supplier of signaling and control systems, develops innovative network switching and diagnostic
solutions that enable the convergence of traditional and converged wireline, wireless and IP voice and data communications
networks. The company also provides products and solutions for call centers and other telecommunications markets. Tekelec's
has its headquarters in Calabasas, California, and divisions in Morrisville, North Carolina, and Richardson, Texas. For more
