I didn't mean to imply (if that's what I did) that the MSFT -DOJ litigation was bad for the CTXS-MSFT relationship. It brought a lot of issues into the open and will result in a weakening of MSFT ability to offer "free" products that are really intended to stop competitors. The MSFT CTXS agreement originally came about because MSFT was unable to produce a product that could equal CTXS software, and considering all the delays and problems with pending MSFT releases I doubt if it has gotten much better. A cancellation of the agreement will hurt CTXS stock price but I don't think it will have any long term harmful effects on profits. Cooperation is good for both parties. The real issue is speeding up the use of thin client ICA. MSFT benefits from low total operating costs because it leaves more money for clients to spend on software, since they spend less on maintenance. I suspect that the cash payments from MSFT to CTXS will end but there will be some kind of information sharing, but this is just a guess.
What do you think?
