I have mediaone here in Boston and phone service has been available for at least six months. I told them to forget it since the reliability of my internet connections isn't that great; it's frequently down, so I assume that the reliability of the phone connection would be the same. Also this service to the best of my knowledge doesn't use the internet. It just piggy-backs on the cable and fiber and provides local phone service. Any long distance package offered would be separate. I didn't check the details.
