Obewon, RE:<< I find it interesting that they did not break out current assets into cash, receivables, and inventory. >>

It's in the Q. Cash is $6,616M, Pledged securities is 18,232M, Restricted cash is 32M, A/R is 176M, and other current assets is 93M. Most of existing inventory appears to have been reclassified as obsolete, as ARTT attempts to move away from point-to-point.

Maybe all they or their bankers need to do is clip the paragraph from today's Yew Nork Times story "The Sounds of F.C.C. silence in a Big
Phone Merger". The Biz section feature story after making diminimus
of Frontier selling its in USW LD business states:

"For US West and Global Crossing, the bigger probelm stemming from US
West's regulatory situation might not be in winning approval of their
deal but in fully exploiting it afterward. US West's region includes
Seattle, Portland, Ore.; Phoenix and Denver, and the combined company
will be prohibited from selling long-distance voice or data communications to users in any of those places".

NXLK don't got freqs in PHX or DEN. FON has MMDS pending deals covering all four but no appropriate local connection to many business customers. WCOM Tele TV deal only gets it BTA rights to SEA
and SBC in its infinite wisdom leased its sole BTA gained unused channel MDS 1 to ATEL for 2 way data-voice experimentation over a year ago. QWST has a large hdqt. presence in the cable good old boys
hometown which is only 1 of 4 major USW cities ARTT while financially
strained has not been able to launch. However, Commco's $7 million
payment perhaps financed by reducing its position to under 5% in ARTT
and the 90 backlogged unserved buildings ARTT has in its rainy and
sunshine filled troika of served towns might just be enough to keep ARTT active till one or another larger telco (e.g. AT&T, C&W, etc.,)
decide an attractive small deal may be good to announce alongside the
mega deal(s) of the day.
