VLSI, Yozan to develop W-CDMA IC
SAN JOSE, Calif.—Yozan Inc. and VLSI Technology Inc. said they have agreed to jointly develop a Wideband Code Division Multiple Access baseband integrated circuit for third-generation communication systems.
Plans call for the single-chip IC to be developed on VLSI's Velocity Standard Communication Platform, a universal wireless development environment that can combine multiple standards. It is used to speed the design and development of the circuit and software by allowing existing circuits and the Internet protocol blocks to be reused.

Yozan will supply a chipset combining the matched filter and rake receiver technologies for W-CDMA, said the companies.
