Unfortunately, they don't so long they pick Intel as the competitor.
AMD is the most successful x86 CPU vendor IF there is no Intel(look
at Cyrix, IDT and all those that once tried). AMD would be happily
selling 350Mhz K6 IF Intel hasn't raised the bar to 400Mhz+.

I would be Olympic winner of men's 100M if everyone who
can finish in less than 15 seconds are not allowed to run.
