George, not at all! This is descriptive, not judgemental. All understanding, including moral, emotional, technical, abstract, is based on the thing itself, reality. A General definition of intelligence allows that we abstract from the concrete particular to patterns and organizing, ie: abstracting. Each of us have personalities on a continuum that Can abstract [or not], and that Prefer abstraction [or Concrete]. To be abstract means that one focuses on, pays attention to, deems important, those things that are abstract and those characteristics which can be abstracted. To be concrete focuses on real things. It sees the possibilities in real things, making money, cleaning, making happy, .... One can clean badly as well as reason poorly. An axis of efficiency could cross the Real..Abstract axis and indicate how well based in reality an Abstract might typically be. It is my opinion that our culture overvalues Abstract. Football is one evidence.

George, you were responding to my trash categories. In messages since, I've brought them more in line with a better structured theory. In my original post, Trash are those [originally southern] who are most Concrete, and focus on the subset of things. Rollers are those who focus on the subset of written rules. Leaders are the subset of the southern concretes that focus on money. Notice the absence of Abstract at all. Southern intellectuals or liberals are not in significant numbers to enter a model. Clinton being a Concrete is overdue in this country. That he has a wide stretch into Abstractness is also good. It is his individual pathological psychology that has created such a fuss. Confusing his idlocyncracies with his other, non-problematic, but different, characteristics does US no good.
