Zero chance for "fibre-optic chips" from Intel in the next 5 years.

I recall Bell Labs (The Old Bell Labs) and IBM demonstrating optical "switches" several years ago.

Intel's 0.13 micron process should see the light of day by September 2001 if Intel's past record of process introductions holds up. Copper should be part of that process.
