3500TV wins best hardware of E3 award...

pc.ign.com

Best Hardware: 3dfx Voodoo3 3500 TV

We really liked what we saw at the 3dfx booth and, judging from the
number of people constantly circling the 3dfx booth, it was pretty
apparent that the crowd was impressed as well. The 183MHz Voodoo3
3500 TV is an all-in-one card that combines blazingly fast 2D and 3D
performance with a TV tuner and the ability to record MPEG 2 video
and audio in real-time
. The card will also support DVD playback, either
through software or a hardware add-on. And with S-video in/out,
composite out and stereo audio in/out, this card can handle nearly any
video standard. From what we saw, this is going to be the next
generation video card to beat.

Did I hear that right? Mpeg2 real time? Holy crud. The all-in-wonder and marvel have nothin' on this baby. My Marvel was great but the required mpeg conversion was a pain in the ass and took hours. I hope they carry this idea forward with their future chipsets.

>> looks like Juarez has space for another 2 or 3 production lines

I know that. I got their production info from STB soon after the merger was announced. My concern is with Fab capacity and yield management. As well, even though they are not production limited on the board side now, will they be limited if they got two or three tier one OEM deals inked?
