Global One Launches Industry-Leading Program Of Performance Guarantees
First Global Carrier to Offer Comprehensive Service Level Agreements Across Voice, Data, and IP Services Portfolio

BRUSSELS, Belgium, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Global One, the international joint venture of Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, and Sprint, today announced its Global Guarantee program, the most comprehensive performance guarantees offered by a major telecommunications provider. The Global Guarantee program will provide end-to-end Service Level Agreements (SLAs) across the Global One voice, data, and IP services portfolio.

Global One is the first global carrier to offer SLAs -- performance guarantees measuring pre-determined criteria -- across such a wide range of voice, data, and IP services on a truly global scale. Through the Global Guarantee program, Global One customers worldwide can receive contractual commitments that Global One will deliver specified services by a promised date, will have optimal network availability, and, if a problem occurs, will restore service within a specified period of time.

"This program positions Global One as an industry leader in service delivery. Our proven record of high-quality operational performance allows us to offer the most comprehensive set of performance guarantees in the market. This introduction reflects our confidence that we can continue to deliver world-class services at the levels our customers require," said Fred Rucker, Global One executive vice president for marketing and sales.

The Global Guarantee program will be available to Global One customers where the following voice, data, and IP services are offered: Global Frame Relay, Global LAN-to-LAN, Global VPN, Global Direct Link, Global Call Center, and Global IP. Later in 1999, Global ATM, Global X.25, and Global Dial Access will also be covered by the program. The new, standard guarantees complement the case-by-case SLAs that have been offered by Global One since its February 1, 1996, launch.

The Global Guarantee program underscores an important demonstration of the Global One focus on customer care and commitment to deliver best-in-class service. It marks another milestone in a campaign over the last year that has produced new product launches and important infrastructure development.

A crucial element in this commitment has been the over US$ one billion capital investment by Global One and its shareholders over the last three years and the deployment beginning in 1997 of the world's farthest-reaching ATM-based network, paving the way for the next generation of voice, data and IP services over a single network. Last October, Global One launched its seamless, high-bandwidth Global ATM solution on this advanced network. With availability today in 800 cities in 40 countries, Global ATM has the widest coverage for any such service. Through the use of the ATM-based network, Global Frame Relay is offered in 59 countries, and a range of other voice, data, and IP solutions utilizing the network will be announced in coming months.

Global One customers around the world now rely on a network monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Leading-edge network automation systems provide around-the-clock automated fault protection. The network carries out automated pro-active monitoring, automated testing and diagnosis, and automated corrective actions. These features are backed up by the support organizations of Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, Sprint, and Global One. Their seamless back office capability includes order entry, provisioning, billing and 24-by-7 customer support.

Global One offers a single source for the provision of seamless voice, data and IP services for businesses, carriers and consumers around the world. Set up as a worldwide joint venture of Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Sprint, Global One is a fully integrated company in its own right, with over 1,400 network access centers in more than 65 countries. Global One offers the world's most far-reaching ATM-based network and in 1998 had revenues of more than US$ 1.1 billion.
