I agree with Jeff. He has it absolutely right about the ubiquity of the format and the major record labels' cluelessness. I've been around the net for more than 10 years now and the energy and dynaism surrounding the MP3 "movement" ranks right up there with the invention of the web itself and the growth of linux.

MP3.com's business plan is akin to that of RedHat, rather than wanting to become as large as Sony/BMG/Microsoft, they will ultimately bring those companies down to the size of MP3.com. MP3.com will grow larger in the process, not to behemoth size, but enough to make them extremely viable.
