ATI achieves all-time record for US graphics distribution sales, with March market share of 46%.

< You will note that this news is only on ATI web site, people will get it the next quarter report regardless, and the comapny will have make everything they can.>

ATI attains the highest US distribution market share ever recorded, with ATI RAGE Fury the best-selling board Impressive showing driven by strong retail sector sales of ATI products during March 1999

Toronto, Ontario, May 18, 1999 - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) announced today that the company has earned the highest market share of graphics and video cards sold through U.S. distribution channels ever reported, with ATI add-in boards capturing 46 per cent of the market in March 1999. The new ATI RAGE Fury
board was the leading add-in board sold through distribution.

PC Data, a leading computer market research analyst, also reports that ATI's overall US retail market share reached a company-high of 25 per cent in March, helping to drive the impressive distribution channel result.

The market research findings closely follow ATI receiving the "Best System Builder Program" award announced earlier this year at the System Builder Summit held in Scottsdale Arizona, an event sponsored by Microsoft Corporation, Intel and Ingram Micro. Support by the system builder community has been responsible for helping the
penetration of the RAGE Fury in the PC marketplace.

"The latest PC Data market figures amply show that ATI graphics products are proving as popular with US consumers, the most demanding in the world, as they are with the world's major computer OEMs," said Thomas Ward, vice president of distribution sales, ATI. "ATI is a leading choice in every graphics market segment, including
multimedia, value, performance, and gaming."

ATI's RAGE Fury, which began shipping earlier this year, soared to the top on the strength of its industry-leading graphics performance, unequaled video quality and its unique 32MB of graphics memory. Added to this is the Fury's ability to provide 32bpp true color rendering, also unmatched in the industry.

"The RAGE Fury was designed with consumers in mind, with industry-leading performance and 32 MB of memory," said Ed Grondahl, vice president of product marketing, ATI. "It is ideal for the most popular games, provides workstation-level graphics functionality for design and animation work and has built-in hardware DVD acceleration
for the best in movies and home entertainment. Its extensive feature set is meeting with great success with consumers, drove ATI to the number one retail position in March, and the highest recorded US distribution market share ever."

The ATI RAGE Fury is based on ATI's RAGE 128 graphics chip, which is also becoming the technology-of-choice by the world's top computer makers, including Apple, Gateway and HP which are featuring the RAGE 128 chip in new systems now shipping.

PC Data's March '99, US Market, Video Card Sales Report, tracks sales from the national US distribution market and includes major distributors such as Ingram Micro, Tech Data, Merisel, and Pinacor.
