Although it is highly unlikely, if Greenspan raise rates this market will drop like a stone. It is more likely that the Feds will hint of a rate increase "bias towards tightening". Interest sensitive stocks will be the hardest hit (e.g Banks) but the general market will also be hit hard. Although it has lost a lot of its luster gold is still seen by many as a hedge against inflation. If the news is bad enough the gold producers should see a nice jump.
