Qwest Communications International has added Siebel Systems' Salesfor Workgroups software to the list of applications it will provide corporate customers as part of its outsourcing initiative unveiled last week.

Under the terms of the Siebel agreement, announced this Tuesday morning, Qwest will provide hosting and help desk support for Sales for Workgroups. The package will be geared to small and midsized organizations.

Siebel's application will join SAP's R/3 ERP software as the first packages to be offered by Qwest, which is in the process of building a series of nationwide data centers in concert with Hewlett-Packard.

The carrier said it would provide customers with integrated features from both Sales for Workgroups and SAP R/3.

The CyberCenters, equipped with $500 million in server hardware and software from Palo Alto, Calif.-based HP, will begin offering the outsourced applications later this year.

Qwest has three centers completed and said it plans to add four more by the end of 1999.
