RE:"So it is IMPOSSIBLE to have greater than 100% GROSS MARGIN.
So if it costs AMD $40 to manufacture the K6-2 then they have to sell it
for $80 to get a 50% gross margin."......

FINALLY, someone (other than myself) actually knows something about how to calculate GROSS MARGIN. I can pick myself up off the floor now. Can sure tell there are a bunch of engineers here. <G>

((sp-c)/sp)*100=% margin
where sp=selling price
c=cost

Kash,

Most of the stuff I post is a bunch of garbage. Until later when you find out that I am correct. The number of times you have accused me of this is rather remarkable. Remember how you lashed out last year when I predicted that K6-III was going to be low MHz and late?

I'm really not interested in the definition of margins. Intel is using their high end sales to finance Celeron and the crushing of their competition. If there was no Xeon, then there would be no Celeron either.

Kash - Re: "SO trying to add the previously expensed costs for P6 core to todays costs for Celeron to come up with a COCKAMAMIE analysis on why Intel is selling Celerons below cost is ASININE."

That is a rather interesting description of SCUMbria's Frantic Antics.

Kash - <Intel marginal costs are in the $30-40 range for the mendocino. THEY are NOT breaking the law etc etc etc.>

A good stab at it Kash, IMHO. EOM.
