Report from LOR shareholders meeting (via LOR yahoo thread) Top>Business and Finance>Stocks>Services>Communications Services>LOR (Loral Space/Communication) Report Stockholders meeting by: halpcar2 (70/M/No.Bergen, NJ) 14637 of 14642 Meeting got underway 9:40AM Mr. Schwarz gave a very upbeat report on the conditions of the industry Etc,Etc. I personly have heard simular reports on conferance calls. The meeting got interesting during the question and answering segment,Mr. Schwartz never ducked any questions.BS was asked about LORALS stock price. He said and I Quote " I never have and I never will HYPE a stock".A lot of questions about IRIDIUM, BS replied our system is totally superior, because of different technoligy. We did better research.Question: Abnout LORAL sat phones, BS startes to answer, and you hear a telephone ring BURR BURR BURR I HALPCAR screamed out will sombody pick up the sat phone and sure enough it was a person calling from San Diago CA in the foothills to mr. Schwartz. The call and vidio were crystal clear,for me who is slightly hard of hearing. the conversation was very clear.The hand held phone looked to be about 8" inches long and about 3-4 inches wide. The call was made on a qualcom made phone.BS answered about the sat phones---- By the time we begin service will have 30000 hand sets (SEPT.) BY Dec.99 130000. After thathe epects a production of up to 40000 per month and is pushing the 3 Manufactures fo more.(very Impresive His eyes were piercing when he said it.)BS said that the bussiness is highly profitable.I believe he said that LORAL will show a good profit by March 2000.About AOL, he responded, we are talking to a great many companies, but cannot comment on any of them. I got A LORAL Baseball cap, I met JEFF VAYDA of the SI Board very nice guy, he will also report on the meeting. I hope IO did a good job reporting, PS I talked to Mr. Schwartz for about 5 minutes after the meeting and remembered the old day of LORAL .
