Steve: I did not set out to convince you. I was responding to a post from somebody else. I gave my opinion, which I then explained to you because you asked me.

Your definition of "commonsense" is different from mine. Your's relies on references to the presumed authority of MIT and DELL. I don't suspend commonsense in the presence of large institutions. As someone dripping with academic honours, and someone who has been involved in the administration of Universites and in the raising of funds for them, I do not have a naive view of their purity of motive.

As a temporary investor in NETP I am glad that it has been awarded a prize by an academic institution even though I don't think the award is academic and even though I suspect that the academic institution has probably lent its prestige to the award granting process for other than academic reasons.

I think you would be hard put to say that an academic institution should be awardng a prize to DELL because it sells on the internet in different countries and to have the award decided by a panel on which two of DELL's directors are sitting.
