Gustave, I have said many times that I am pro- NATO, but if NATO can get an agreement, that would be enough. Right now the danger is that it will continue to lose credibility, including moral authority, and then where are we? Better to get a deal that permits repatriation and monitoring in Kosovo, even if under the UN flag....

Perhaps we could then move away from the concept that a small group of nations has the right to take upon itself the decision as to how other countries should run their internal affairs and understand that we have a world body for determining precisely those issues.

When the Asian nations become militarily stronger than the U.S. (and it WILL happen -- no empire on earth has survived forever, and ours won't be the first) we will be very glad for a strong, well-supported U.N. to protect us from interference in our internal affairs.
