OT: Yah, that long distance "bong"(don't get all excited you alternative mindset folk, heh), then the carrier provider, then the time in the area of the individual you're calling. It's just a veeeery short hop to providing a brief, 5 sec. commercial; sumthing like...."BUY COKE!" and then the call completes. Or god forbid, remember subliminal advertising? HEH!

Anyway, if you just take a casual look around you'll find people already acting as walking billboards for clothing manufacturers, advertising smeared on every...single....imaginable surface in urban zones, subways, taxis, sides of buildings, buses(including their side windows). Can we say SATURATION!!

Or how'sa 'bout ENOUGH ALREADY! Cripes. But I'm a cynic. It's only gonna get worse. And since we're all so inured to this freakin' madness I expect it's only a matter of time before they find some way to insert commercials into music copy. They're already doing that via the re-run mechanism of video by literally inserting(for example) a box of cornflakes on a kitchen table that wasn't there during the originally taping. Hell, why not make the commercials the music and simply shoot all the musicians as being irrelevant....... Heh!

John~

OT: That damn AT&T chime just started showing up around 2 months ago. It has infected some family member's & long distance friend's phone calls even more recently. I currently have a really good deal from AT&T but will be switching to a better or equivalent once my current deal expires just so that I don't have to listen to that AT&T chime every few seconds (currently getting 120 free minutes/month + $.10/minute + no monthly fee....the free minutes should be expiring very soon. Switched to Sprint, week later AT&T calls back, I say "no." AT&T calls back 2 weeks later and gives me a much better deal than their first offer so I switched back to AT&T....similar to the cash deals for switching since I use more than 120 LD minutes/month).
