ed:<3% growth did a whole lot for platt> maybe dell should just increase the stock repurchase program so significantly, that eventually the dell cash machine would take the company private....I would love to own shares in a private company. The hell with the market....just focus on the customer, is what I say....to hell with the analysts....is this a totally crazy idea? Certainly customers don't care how well the stock is doing...Put the whole company on a cash basis.....totally...
'''''After all, in the computer services marketplace, there is no one who can effectively HURT dell. But the cost of their and our preoccupation with the "damn" stock market----I really wonder about that.
'''''I bet you can relate to this too----bet you would VOLUNTEER to be part of it----.......
'''''Appeals to me----dell can just forever leverage off the research and established market position of both intel and msft, and probably generates enough cash to partner with almost ANY internet/communications package.
'''''There are probably a huge number of very wealthy dell holders, who would just love this idea. I do too.
'''''Seems to me, that dell thereby is able to USE the stockmarket, without even being a part of it. And no one could stop the process, since dell generates so much cash.
'''''Then we'd really be separated from all the thinking about cpq and ibm----.....
.....And msd could start other ipo's for his dell family...IMO the stock market has done all it really will ever do, for dell. It has served its purpose. Time to gather everyone together, and create more focus on the customer, and nothing but the customer.
Time to fire Goldman, and stop the fees required to operate the options profits machine. The company has reached a strategic inflection point. Let's take the damn thing private...
