Couple interesting things that I pulled out of CC... If I remember correctly (listening to CC on car phone..) $600m fiscal was the figure and 3 top tier oem wins out of main 5 on higher volume middle line systems. My questions, ya'll heard that May sales figures were questioned and management responded that they were basically inline with their expectations. Furthermore, at least twice in the CC was it mentioned that the sales for one month is not indicative of future monthly volume as the first 30days is traditionally elevated. Our "questioner" restated the question and was faced with the same vague response. Personally, I think that the historical success of V2 will not be repeated the V3 (in regards to monthly volume). Last year we had several months before TNT came out, now we had a couple weeks before TNT2. V2 had SLI, V3 does not (current rumors aside - boy would that change the playing field). So now you have a situation with alternatives are available at similar price points. Granted the tv goodies of the 3500 make it attractive, but it's not out yet and now EB shows July... yuck. Now the good thing is that I do think margins look good and will look better so perhaps we will be competing with a different price point especially with the new flexibility of the integrated model. So how strong will May/June/July be? I dunno... but that is just MHO. Oem's: management seemed positive on OEM success.... my big question is... are they positive from the standpoint of 3dfx management? (300k banshee) or from the standpoint of stbi management? (wahooo!) Announce damn you... announce! :) The future IMHO: Looks good to me... besides a little accounting error here and there, it looks like we survived the major merger pains. And if V3 is merely a "merger revenue source" like I have heard suggested, then it worked pretty darn well so far. And with the significant investment... let me repeat... the significant investment in future technology I think the future of 3dfx is bright. Besides, if the criticisms of 3dfx's V3 are correct and it is merely a Banshee2, then that tells me that the next gen product that has been in the development wings for 1.5 to 2 years should be a very interesting part indeed! My favorite line of the CC was the not-so-hidden targeting of ATI. Shoot, we may actually have to start really paying attention to Ballards statement a couple CC's back when he said 1999 will be the year of 3dfx. Jeff "where did my STBI stock poof to.." P.
