<<What gives humans this right? Might does, and Might is Right.>> BS.
Reference: Michelles post on the Jerry Springer show. What gives us the right to treat any creature in any given way is our righteous (right) regard for that being as a creation of our Lord. The Western terminology is dominion over all of creation. This is a command to be care takers and comes with full responsibility to the well being of creation. With "might" comes responsibility, or not (free will to choose).

The LAME makaw nation...great Native "50-caliber hunters" of the Northwest...

Mammals that eat the flesh of other mammals are CANNIBALISTIC.

Now that the redfish is working it's way thru your small intestine, I will say that the Salmon is not a mammal.

I would suggest that we don't have any way to "let" the makaw do their crime...they will do it without our blessings...that's what serial killers do. Next time they need a fix....a whale will be MURDERED.

Might is just that, might...killing an animal that has been "chummed" is lame enough...killing an animal for ego-gratification is Beastiality, as the Injuns demonstrated yesterday. It took 15-20 mins. for this trusting, betrayed female animal - a mammal - to succomb to the abuse and death chase...FIFTY CALIBER FINALITY. She probably thought the little Injun's canoe was a calf to be lead along with the migration.

Teach the children...

If we must kill animals to ingest their meat, it should be done in a way that does not kill by slow torture...unless we want more Columbine, more Thurston...

The makaw are pathetic.

-may they wretch on the Flesh of that Whale...

Johannes--- I agree that the animal rights movement is goofy, and my argument is not that it is clearly wrong to eat a chimp. Nor is it that we should start shooting people for such ambiguous things, nor lock them up. I compared the level of such claims to courtesy, which has less dignity than strict morality, but is legitimately a part of ethics. We should cherish certain things, and revile others, as an extension of the values deduced from our ethics. We do not drown kittens not because it is clearly unjust, but because it is wrong to be gratuitously cruel, even to an animal. Even if we put animals away, we choose humane means. We make laws against animal cruelty, too, by the way, because it is our society, and we have a right to encourage certain values, or discourage others. The reason I am ambivalent about the whale hunt, though not knee- jerk against it, is that we now know that cetaceans are highly intelligent and sociable animals, and this creates a sense of kinship which, while it should not be exaggerated, is not trivial. If it really were a publicity stunt, as has been alleged by some, I would be against it. If it a meaningful revival of tribal custom, that will enhance the tribe's sense of traditional identity, I am for it. It should have a meaning that over- rides the legitimate reluctance to kill such a noble creature...
As for Might making Right, have you been hitting the ersatz Irish Creme again?<g> Would you care to "extend and revise" your remarks, as they say in Congress?....
