It really shouldn't surpise anyone. Regression to the mean is healthy, and normal. What I would be surprised with is a stock which gained ~51,000% in ten years which kept up that rate of growth.

The Dell earnings announcement will hurt Intel in the short term, but the long term is still bright for Intel. The is a trend in the corporate world is to move toward lower end systems. I had lunch with someone who will be purchasing over 1000 PC's. In the past the corp would have gone for the most powerful PC, but this time around, the company is planning to purchase sub $1000, 333Mhz systems. A study within the company showed that most common application was netscape, MS Excel, MS Word. The conclusion was 333Mhz Pentinium II system was sufficient. They are pretty irritated that NT and MS Office cost almost as much as the system.
