When I saw the Zicam in Harris Teeter, there was a zinc gluconate
spray next to it, a generic brand, I think. But it wasn't a gel
that could coat and block the receptors, and it didn't claim to stop colds. In fact, I can't remember what it claimed. Maybe
just a way to get zinc.

I'll look closely next time I am there. Not the same thing, right?

Anyone heard of Tremacamra (sp?)??? CBS Evening News just did a segment on it. You squirt the stuff up your nose to cure/prevent (????) colds.

Yeah, I just saw the news on local TV also....an article is being published in the American Journal of Medicine regarding a two year study....nasal spray which tricks the rhinoviruses to attach themselves to the decoys instead of the healthy cells....results seem to indicate that it is being tested as a deterrent to cold, with 23% of treated showing no cold symptoms after being exposed to rhinovirus and another 50% exhibiting only mild symptoms.

:o(....Sounds awfully similar....

Oops, my response to this message was written before I read Dr Epstein's immediately previous message....
