I can't disagree with you on the valuation argument, except that I believe these stocks, like msft and csco, will always be expensive as long as they are percieved to be winners in their space..
Regarding future competition...I don't see it as a factor to be concerned with as long as yahoo stays on the ball......Its all about brand name......if you can get people to show up, its not that hard to keep them there.....It isn't as easy as you make it sound to get large volumes to show up...Ask AOL if in hindsight it was easy, or if they attribute their dominance to other factors...
Ask Microsoft or GE if they have found the ISP business and portal business to be easy....For that matter ask compuserve if they thought it was easy...they were first to market and first to fail, prodigy was second to market and second to fail
Ask infoseek, who is failing, if they think it is easy.
Maybe for these reasons, as long as Yahoo stays ahead of the eight ball, their world just keeps getting bigger and better
