US Online Banking Market to Triple by 2002

(Hi gang, sorry been gone so long!)

24.2 million Internet users in the US are expected to bank online by
2002, up from 6.9 million at the end of 1998, according to a report by Cyber Dialogue.

The study looked at the financial activities of consumers who bank
online. Cyber Dialogue estimates that 62 percent of consumers who bank online manage their investments over the Net while 25 percent of banking consumers trade investments online.

This compares to 33 percent who use online insurance information and
services, and 24 percent who use online mortgage information and services. Just 16 percent have applied for a credit card online, while 6 percent have applied for a loan online.

An earlier study by Gomez Advisors rated the top online consumer banks in the US while a report from IDC examined the online banking software market.
