I totally agree with you Mohan its just that I felt compelled to comment since I have been a hiring manager in the past and I have some pretty strong opinions about it.

The conventional wisdom is that the internet is the great leveler and allows us R&D managers to go to places like Sri Lanka and India for technical labor. And yes there is lots of great technical talent there I agree but it does not replace on a 1:1 basis the creative technical talent we had here 10 years ago. Not an exact replacement... example in the past a "programmer" generally could design, he was here and could work with users etc. You don't get that in an outsourced task and when you decouple design and programming completely problems arise. Anyway these details don't show up in the economists reports.
