I've been using E*Trade since the beginning of the year.
I stayed away from buying EGRP because of E*Trade technical difficulties and all those complaints you hear about.
But I decided to buy in yesterday for 2 reasons, and
I wonder if anyone has comments on these:

1. E*Trade and other OLBs have created a growing number of "internet day traders." Seems to me that will cause customers to spend a lot more on total commissions than anyone expected. Are there any stats on the trading patterns of E*Trade customers.

2. I read an article in my local paper about after-hours trading, and how demand is growing. For example, it said that 40% of all E*Trade orders are made when the market is closed. With 1 million members, does anyone envision E*Trade as its own afterhours market, crossing orders 24 hours a day. Think of the revenue without burdening the system during market hours.
