Hi-tech but also 'grundge" work: Tomorrow's watch list also has a relatively new one that just reported and so was WGAT.. That's exactly what I do. Unconventional. I comb the Investor's Business Daily, that boring place where all the stocks reported,(not just the best ups) and look at news daily in the 'main' sectors (telecommunications, technology, electronics, Media/Cable, Internet Content, Internet Services, Internet Software etc). I don't do all sectors obviously. That's why I want to add researchers etc.

Then I comb certain technical magazines for the 'new hits' get the phone numbers of investor relations if I like them and wait it out. Its worth it because when you find one it can last a year or more (i.e. CREE, ETEK, etc). I still can't get enough, as you can see every morning there is at least one 'big gainer' that no one really gets until they see the news headlines on their computers. Sometimes they gap up though and its too late.

If I just waited for standard research methods, I'd miss about 25% more than I already do. Even Telescan doesn't 'load' the scans with the new ones. That's why First Call is no longer enough, I get the 'repeaters' from last quarter and new ones and file them in ordinary 3 pronged looseleafs. Did you think everything was so hi-tech? Nope. Its the grundge work that actually gets the best ones, and not necessarily the scans.

Now I'm 'researching' and papertrading ones like RIMM, to see if the ones I find are not just 'flash in the pans'.. or junk BB stocks. Just to find a few good ones.
