John,

Thank you again for the personal comments.

The URLs that you had provided predict a failure rate which pales in comparison to the damage, for example, a database which regularly goes into deadlocks would incur (it could have, for example, frozen your bank account if you try to withdraw cash from an ATM machine while someone else with a copy of your ATM card tries to deposit cash to the same account at the same time). My point was really simple; given that banks (for example) coped with such s/w in the early 90's/late 80's successfully mean that this y2k fear is overblown. Not to say that all y2k bugs has been caught, that is a mathematical impossibility. But that whatever is left is insignificant even by pessimistic estimates like the ones you provide.

Just because y2k is the most publicized (and the most easily understood) bug doesn't mean that s/w is bug free in general. Quite far from it, actually.

-BGR.

Hey, watch it fella. It is totally an unfair comparison. As the only Ahahha defender on this thread, I submit to you that he may be short on inter-personal skills but he sure knows what he is talking about when it comes to market. -g-
