Scumbria, Re: How much of this nonsense are you shareholders going to put up with?

Scumbria - <How much of this nonsense are you shareholders going to put up with? The management is obsessed with hurting AMD, at the cost of tens of billions of dollars in shareholder losses.>

I believe the stock would be hurt worse if Intel were to report shrinking market share. NEVER NEVER cede market share when you have a profitable response. STAY TUNED

From ZDNet: AMD slashes prices on processors

zdnet.com

While Intel rolls out new Pentium III chips, AMD counters by cutting chip prices by up to 45 percent to stay competitive.

By Robert Lemos, ZDNN
May 17, 1999 1:07 PM PT

Chip maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. revealed steep cuts of up to 45 percent in its line of PC processors on Monday.

The cuts leave the company's most expensive processor - the 450MHz K6-III -- at a price of $220, almost half that of its former $397.

The prices on AMD's (NYSE:AMD) other chips fell from 18 percent to 29 percent.

SCUMbria - Re: "The management is obsessed with hurting AMD, at the cost of tens of billions of dollars in shareholder losses."

Tomorrow morning, many of us are going to thank Intel's management for putting the SCREWS to AMD and urge them to accelerate their attack on AMD with even FASTER CELERONS at LOWER PRICES !

We'll let you know if they pick up the gauntlet.

Paul

You've finally done it, Scumbria. Since a few of your posts are genuinely useful I've really resisted putting you into my BrowseMaster Ignore-ant list, but for the last few days you've spouted so much worthless garbage that I can't take it any longer.

Everyone else, please don't reply to him so that I won't have read the thread pollution he causes. While I can screen out posts from I still have to download the ones to him.

Get used to it. The combination of faster processor introduction and lower prices is only going to accelerate with Intel moving to .18m faster than expected. Intel (& it's shareholders) are in it for the long haul. Let's see how long AMD can keep up. I can hear them huffing & puffing already!

mmm let's see ... there's some Kurlak's legacy out there that spells misery on Intel; the 500MHz Celeron may be the last nail in AMD
coffin, right in time for blowing away any forecast in q4.

If it indeed drops to $40 (and it will be $80 by the end of 1999)
that's not a bad game at all. Possibly by then amd will
be out of business ( BTW i heard that Palmer is on board, that
will accelerate their pace to that direction !)
