Email Forward - #TradingPlace Lunchtime Seminars
Beginning next week, #Tradingplace will begin hosting lunchtime Q & A chats on channel, featuring a different guest each time. The first one will be held next Wednesday (5/19/99) from 12:00 Eastern to 12:45. Our first featured guest will be LisaL, whom many of you know from our channel and others. Thomas came up with this idea and I thought it was great, so we jumped right on it. This is the "dead zone" during the trading day and an excellent time for a little more in-depth discussion. I don't yet know if these will be weekly, monthly or bi-weekly. As we do more and get better at it, a regular schedule will be established. The format will be primarily question and answer in a moderated channel. Moderated means that the only users that will be able to post to channel during this time are the guest, the moderator (me for now) and ops. We will begin with 15 minutes that the guest can use to cover any general or introductory material that they wish to. They may use all, none, or some of this time. Questions will be submitted by email or by private message to the moderator who will feed the questions to the guest on channel. If you've ever been to a Kramer chat on Yahoo, its the same format. Another thing that we can do if you want to, is set the forum chat up in another temporary channel so that the regular channel remains open for chat among members. At 12:45 the forum channel will become unmoderated (though still opped) and if the guest wishes to stay and continue more informally, that will be their choice. The official event ends at 12:45 eastern, but I will keep the channel open longer if there are people that are interested in continuing. I've done many forums of this type over the years on the internet and it works very well. I've found that a general free-for-all gets stressful for the guest (trying to keep track of who to answer next), as well as confusing for the participants. The chats will be logged and posted to the #Tradingplace Yahoo BB. If you do not have access to the Yahoo board, please email me and I will send you an invitation (required on private bb's). If you are already a member of the board, but lost the URL, it is: clubs.yahoo.com. The board will also be a great place to continue the conversation in the following days. Conversely, if you read this on the bb and are not on the email list but wish to be, same deal, email me. Please start thinking about the questions you've been wanting to ask LisaL. Here is your chance! I will try to submit questions on a first come, first serve basis, but I reserve the right to combine similar questions into one, or to group some of them according to subject. If you wish to submit your questions via email to me, that would be great and would put you at the front of the line. Just click reply on this email. If you wish to forward this mail to other traders not on our mailing list or not regulars in #Tradingplace, please do so. I have sent this out with blind copies to everyone so that you can all retain your anonymity if this letter is forwarded outside the group. I will also accept questions via private message during the chat. If you email your questions, I will also forward them to LisaL so that she has an opportunity to think about them in advance. I'm very interested in any feedback you may have, so please share any ideas or suggestions you have either through email or by posting on clubs.yahoo.com. Now for a word from Lisa: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My name is lisa, and rox has asked me recently to hold a discussion this Wednesday in the # TradingPlace channel located on the othernet. This channel is one of the very best channels on IRC and I was happy to accept.
I have been trading stocks for 3 1/2 years, beginning my trading in the penny stock forums. I was fortunate and did well in that arena. I then moved forward into positional trading, and from there into the type of trading I do now on a daily basis.
Most of my trades last for several minutes or seconds, however on some rare occassions I will hold for the bigger intraday moves. The basis of my trading is focused on playing repeating intraday chart patterns.
Hopefully we can all share something that will be helpful to our own personal trading strategies this Wednesday in our chat !!!
Cya there !!!
PS Just in case we look at some charts, please have a 1 minute intraday chart set up, to include MACD, RSI, BB's, and candlesticks. Thank you ! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Thanks for the heads-up on the chart configuration, Lisa! For those that may not use these indicators, they are the Moving Average Convergence/Divergence (I display mine as a histogram), the Relative Strength Index, Bollinger Bands and Candlesticks. For a basic introduction to these indicators and a handy-dandy reference site you can visit e-analytics.com. As Lisa said, she primarily scalps. What she didn't say is that she is an excellent scalper on both sides of the trade. I think most of us would like to develop not only our scalping skills but our shorting skills as well, especially in a toppy, sideways, or downtrending market. I'm really looking forward to this and hope you are too! Send your questions early ! ^rox P.S. As always, if you wish to be removed from this mailing list, please email mjames@nol.net. P.S.S. If you receive this letter, but do not know how to join our chat channel, you must first have an IRC client, such as mIRC ( mirc.com ) or pIRCh ( pirch.com ). Once you have an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client installed, you should connect to the server irc.othernet.org. Once you are connected to othernet, type /join #tradingplace. |
