Bhd., Malaysia's newest full-service semiconductor manufacturing provider, announced today a $120 million technology licensing and manufacturing agreement between its parent company, Wafer Technology (Malaysia) and LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE:LSI). Under the terms of the five-year agreement, LSI Logic will license its deep sub-micron G11+(TM) (0.25-micron-m) and G12(TM) (0.18-micron-m) process technologies to Wafer Technology (Malaysia) for use at its Kulim, Malaysia factory. "Access to this technology positions Silterra as a serious competitor in the semiconductor manufacturing services industry. Silterra will have immediate access to bridge capacity from LSI Logic to qualify customer designs and train employees for work in the Malaysian factory. The LSI Logic-Wafer Technology (Malaysia) technology licensing and manufacturing agreement is subject to regulatory approval by the Malaysian government and completion of certain closing conditions.
