re:Indications are that 0.25u K7 will be as fast or faster than Coppermine.

And "my sources" tell me that .25 K7 will not be faster than a PIII. We'll have to wait a month to see who's right. But, in the meantime, Intel will be posting more profits, high margins, AND RE-CAPTURE lost market share to AMD, while AMD will be posting more Q2 losses.

Scumbria,

Indications are that 0.25u K7 will be as fast or faster than Coppermine.

I notice you put the K7 in the singular, Coppermine also, but we all know Intel will make a bazillion of those.

SCUMbria - Re: "Indications are that 0.25u K7 will be as fast or faster than Coppermine"

Anand's benchmarks SHOW that the Kflop 7 is about equivalent to A SIMILARLY CLOCKED 0.25 micron Pentium /// - with an ancient, limping core.

Since Coppermine just came out of the Fab a few weeks back, I'm sure you have no data on one.
