The Financial Post reports in a Canadian Press dispatch in its Thursday
edition that Brick Brewing is having the summer it was supposed to enjoy
last year. Reporter Ron DeRuyter says that Brick's breweries in Waterloo
and Formosa, Ont., are running smoothly, unlike last year when production
delays wrecked what promised to be the Waterloo-based company's best year
yet. To top things off, it is another hot summer in the company's key
markets. Last year was an unbelievable summer, according to company
president Jim Brickman. He says this spring started so early that it is
good to get another crack at it. Last year was a frustrating and
disappointing time for Brick. Its plan to save money by shifting production
of bottled beer to Formosa and allowing the Formosa site to focus on draft
beer went off the rails because of a long delay in receiving key equipment.
That created serious product shortages, which had a domino effect
throughout the organization, according to Mr. Brickman.
