Iran's Khatami wraps up key visit to Saudi Arabia

<< JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (Reuters) - Iranian President Mohammad Khatami held a final round of talks with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Wednesday, wrapping up a visit which seemed to put an end to two decades of hostility, political analysts said.

Saudi Arabia and Iran were expected to sign a joint statement during the meeting, but there was no immediate comment from officials. Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said a statement on the visit was to be issued.

Khatami is the highest ranking Iranian official to visit Saudi Arabia since Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution, which led to years of mutual suspicion.

Khatami held talks with King Fahd, the crown prince and other senior officials, discussing cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia to boost the world oil market, Gulf security and bilateral ties.

He was expected to fly to Qatar after departing Saudi Arabia Wednesday. >>

Morning Lorne,

I wonder how long before US-Saudi relations start to cool.

Stepashin's priorities for Russian government

Top priorities of Russia's new prime minister include

<< Revive the military-industrial complex. Stepashin said his Cabinet would especially support advanced technology industries that are the foundation of the country's defense industry. >>

<< Increase defense spending. Stepashin said he would ask for defense allocations equal to 3.5 percent of Russia's gross domestic product, up from 2.8 percent this year. Given NATO's bombing of Yugoslavia, which Russia adamantly opposes, ''the situation in our defense complex and our army is inadmissible,'' he said. >>

<< Support a union of Russia, Belarus and Yugoslavia. However, Stepashin said, as President Boris Yeltsin has, that the war in Yugoslavia must end before the three countries begin serious talks about joining forces in a Slavic Union. >>

Sell the mining shares and buy physical gold. Sell the mining shares and buy physical gold. Sell the mining shares and buy physical gold.
Watch the share prices decline and with the decline, there goes the ratings on their bonds and everything else. Kick the producers, not the bankers. The bankers have no market without the producers. Sell the Shares and buy the physical gold. One of the few exceptions to this rule should be Nem and the others who are not partners of the central bankers. As the price of nem holds up better than abx, Monk will squirm.

Is someone not listening out there in investor land?
If the "best & brightest investment minds of all time" are telling the public to "put no money into anything precious metals related", why the demand for all these new shares?
