One usually should be thinking about international repercussions in foreign deals. It's a long, slow process over time, but the more international businesses require communications and become "slaves" to it, the more likely peace will remain (albeit with occasional disruptions). Think of it as "photonic imperialism."

I've been thinking about where GBLX will go from this point. The concentration thus far has been about acquiring pipes. At what point does the GBLX cash cow start looking to acquire calves to suckle at it's photonic teats? Once the FRO deal consummates, does Annunziata start casting eyes at the likes of YHOO?

Hello Frank
This company is seizing the time to build an oil pipeline near-monopoly, where oil is data. Being international, intercontinental in scope, it solves an investor's problem of international diversification. I keep reading the same bla bla bla from the traditional brokers on asset allocation being geographically diversified to reduce risk, yet it is the effect of the global economy that nullifies this approach. Remember fall 1997, hot US semiconductor equipment, hot Asia, hot Brazil. Hot my ass. GBLX will have some beachheads which are in "secure" locations, some less secure, but one would only hope in places where telecoms demand is growing because of globalization. Remember the company's name! The order in which the beachheads are gotten is optimization: fast growth areas, low real-estate costs, stability and "rule of law", all the same factors which any international fund manager would look at in putting together a geo-diversified portfolio. Is Bob A big enough for this? I only wish there were two other GBLX's to get into to spread the risk!
Best regards.
