El: With regards the Radio Shack announcement, if, as I suspect, it is a new product, they will not make the announcement until the product is (a) ready and ramped up (b) in the R/S stores. They would not want to make an announcement and then have a hiatus while the product was ramped up. Notice that CPQ did not try to pre-empt DELL's announcement, this time. (I don't think the previous week's DAP was an attempt to pre-empt). I hope this signals a mature decision to pay less attention to DELL. I would not want COMPAQ to yield first place in PC's to DELL, even in the US, (and I don't think they will) but at the end of the day let them have it if it means that COMPAQ is focussing on more enduring and more profitable activities.
